So, how’s everyone the past month or so? It’s been HOT here, so staying inside has been pretty easy, even though I’ve had to cancel so much travel that I have major cabin fever.
But a few weeks ago, I got some incredibly good and unexpected news in the form of a new medical certificate from the FAA, which meant I get to go FLYING on Friday. It was kind of a long medical battle to get to this point, and I plan on enjoying every second of knocking off the (thick) rust and enjoying the freedom of the skies. Even if it is 100+ degrees in a Cessna 172 on the ground in July.
I’ve also been working fairly quietly behind the scenes on a new book, and it’s almost ready! The Stars Wait Not is an unusual little fairy tale mashup (see how many you can count), science-fantasy (yes, wormholes, magic, AND telepathy) romance (yes, they kiss).
And it’s illustrated.
It’s completely different from my usual thing, but I’m excited to share it with everyone. And here’s the gorgeous cover!
About the book
Ryllis Camden has a secret—she can talk to nature, and it speaks to her in return. But her gift is forbidden by the Vilarian Star Realm who controls her planet, and the penalty is death. When she’s falsely accused of treason and exiled to the Vilarian home world, hiding her power becomes even more critical. But how can she hide anything when she’s forced to toil in the home of the emperor’s youngest son?
Kresten Westermark might be a prince, but long ago he shunned a life of luxury to work as a telepath in the Vilarian Imperial Fleet. His job demands he treat his new prisoner as a slave and test his deteriorating telepathic powers on her, but the only thing on his mind is the growing attraction he feels toward the earnest young woman tending his gardens.
As the mountain winter fades, a reluctant respect between the two becomes trust, and trust soon blossoms into affection. But when the Fleet arrives to arrest Kresten for treason, Ryllis must make an impossible decision.
Save Kresten’s life—or hers.
You can preorder The Stars Wait Not RIGHT HERE. It releases on August 18.
Hope everyone’s staying cool! I get to go re-teach myself VOR tracking, ILS procedures, and hold entries. Yeah…I’d rather be writing, too.
