2022 recap

I guess I’m supposed to do one of these, though to be honest, it’s pretty depressing to look back at how little I accomplished last year. I could lie and say it was because I was busy getting back to living, but that wouldn’t be the truth. The fact is, I spent most 2022 trying to figure out where to take my writing.

Anyway, in 2022, I:

  • wrote 280k+ words
  • published Vortex
  • attended the 10th annual Realm Makers conference in Atlantic City
  • published A House of Nebulas

What’s new for 2023

I don’t know.

Probably nothing. I’m coming to the realization that niche fiction doesn’t sell, which is fine – I don’t need to make a living from my books. The problem is that people show such disdain toward it, and it’s no longer emotionally sustainable to have readers constantly telling me how terrible my writing is. So my goal, strange as it sounds, is to not publish or share any fiction. Preferably, I would like to not write anything, but I’m not sure how achievable that is.

Not the update I wish I had, but here we are.

Happy New Year!
